False Ethnic Cleansing Claims Against Kurdish YPG Fighters

The War Nerd Gary Brecher says the Saudis, Qataris, Kuwaitis, Erdogan, Al Jazeera, and some factions in the West want to discredit the socialist, anti-sectarian, anti-chauvinist Kurdish YPG/J fighters in Syria basically because they are socialist, anti-sectarian, anti-chauvinist Kurds who can beat the Islamic State.

So, to sum up, there’s no evidence at all that YPG/J is involved in ethnic cleansing, sectarian massacres, or any of the other atrocities that are SOP for every other military force in Syria. Their crime is being victorious, pursuing the outright monsters of Islamic State onto Sunni Arab turf. If their neighbors were sane, they’d be dancing in the streets to see YPG/J replace IS in Tal Abyad and points south. But this is a sectarian neighborhood, and you don’t cheer for the other tribe, ever.

The amazing thing is these fighters have advanced to within 30 miles of the ISIS capital in Raqqa Syria and the vaunted Jihadists have retreated before their advance, not fighting very hard. It shows the lameness of all the other factions fighting ISIS.

I think the Kurds deserve their own state carved out of parts of Syria and Iraq at least.

I have nothing against the Kurds. But a Kurdish state will inevitably destabilize Turkey.

It is hard to predict exactly what will happen in the Middle East but it is easy to predict that massive violence will occur.

Screw the Turks. True, a Kurdish nation-state will destabilize their country, but they're already headed that way, and why should we care, anyway? Turkey has large, powerful, NATO-equipped armed forces that could snuff ISIS in a few weeks, yet the Turks have taken no action. In fact, they have made matters worse by allowing radicals to transit their border with Syria to join ISIS. The Kurds have proved to be consistent, effective fighters against ISIS, unlike, say, the Saudis or Turks. In the Middle East, multi-ethnic states are done for. Time to let the Kurds be a real nation.

Put Erdogan on notice. Any more "Islamist" crap from him and we will offer diplomatic relations with the Kurds and help them carve up Turkey.

The Kurds are the only reasonable people in the Muslim Middle-east, aside from all of the smaller groups such as the Druze, Yadizis, etc.

Socialism/Communism is a step up from Islamism.

I have extremely limited information: from a person from Armenia.
His experience with Kurds in Armenia made him think
that Kurds are the people with rather low IQ, with the corresponding consequences.

Black Death - We've worked hard and with great success to destabilize the Middle East. The consequences have been perhaps not exactly what we expected. Perhaps we should attempt to think out the possible consequences of destabilizing the Middle East a little more carefully.

We are like the Sorcerer's Apprentice. We have unleashed forces that we neither understand nor can control.

I agree completely that US involvement in the Middle East has destabilized the region and produced overwhelmingly bad results. Perhaps it's time to disengage and let the kiddies play in their giant sandbox and do what they like best - slaughter each other.

Back in 1948 the US Foreign Policy Establishment including people like Secretary of State George Marshall and George Kennan strongly advised Truman not to get involved in the Arab-Israeli conflict. Truman's political advisers told him to support Israel in order to secure the Jewish vote. Given a choice between serving the national interests and serving his political interests Truman choose to sacrifice the former to the latter. Our country has paid an enormous price for Truman's betrayal of his duty to the nation.
