MTV Buckwild In West Virginia: Decadence In America
What sort of real life character should an MTV producer choose for a reality TV show? A classical stereotype that widely exists in reality.
Shae: Around town, Shae is known as the Southern belle. She’s been chased after by every eligible bachelor in Sissonville but somehow always ends up with the bad boy. Currently a nursing student, this college girl is also a country girl through and through. In fact, her first kiss was on the back of a four-wheeler.
The bad boy preference is so predictable. Really.
Buckwild decadence up in the hollow.
I am reminded of Audacious Epigone's IQ estimates by state where West Virginia scored 94.9. In a nutshell: the smarter whites moved out for generations pursuing better opportunities elsewhere, leaving the dumber ones behind. This made conditions in West Virginia ripe for an MTV TV show.

No, it is not surprising. West Virginia's been a poor rural state that smarter people have been migrating out of for generations. The process feeds on itself. With smarter people pulled elsewhere the state doesn't develop the industries that would give smart people incentive to stay. Really, you are unaware of West Virginia's crime rate, poverty rate, etc?
When I was a kid I was riding thru it and asked my mom why people had washing machines on their front porches. She said it was to show their neighbors that they could afford a washing machine. Do they still do that today? Gotta watch Buckwild to find out.
I doubt the white IQ of WV is really 95, even though it may be the lowest. Also, it is not just the smart WVians who have been leaving the state.
The reason to have a washer in the front yard is so you can fill it with a hose and it can drain out into the dirt. Washer hookups are not found in many older houses and are expensive to install, but a used $100 washer works fine outside and will likely last a couple years in the outdoors.
At the website for the list of IQ estimates by state, we see that California also has the same low average score as West Virginia, but despite this, the most intelligent people from all countries are moving to Silicon Valley.
In the same list, Rhode Island, which is a small classy New England state where an Ivy League school is located, also has a low average IQ score. But this does not mean that Rhode Island is a place where elites cannot flourish.
Interesting. The only reference to West Virginia I can recall is from John Denver, but I haven't spent much time on the East Coast, so I'm sure there's a lot I don't know.
BTW, last year I was invited to interview for Bravo's reality show Start-ups: Silicon Valley. I declined.
Gizmodo has the trailer here: "Oh God, Bravo’s Silicon Valley Show Looks Even Worse Than We Thought Ugh Why Help."
I haven't had a chance to watch a full episode, but they can be watched here. Overall, I imagine the show is actually a net plus for society, because it does spread some form of Silicon Valley culture, even if through a strange lens.
Wolf-Dog: The future of Silicon Valley in that regard does look good. My friend from the Netherlands recently told a Dutch newspaper that moving to Silicon Valley was like moving from the farm leagues to the championship league. He's always railing against how unfriendly to startups Europe is.
The nice thing about continually portraying whites in the worst possible light is that it makes moderately high (115-145) IQ whites who have, over the last few generations, been shoved into the fertility sinks known as "cities", feel good about the fact that they've been mislead about genetics, IQ and race to the point that they are extinguishing their own extended family. I mean, if they didn't have all those commercials portraying white males as bumbling idiots that children, women and non-whites compensate for -- if they didn't have all those Hollywood movies portraying an r=0.9 between whiteness of males and disgusting character -- if they didn't have the debt-slavery institutions of higher learning providing the proper "narrative" that whiteness is to be "abolished" -- they might be upset about their grandchildren being "held down and fucked in the ass forever" when they are a minority 40 years from now.
For the whites with IQ's above about 145, it gets rather difficult to compartmentalize without exhibiting genuine dissociation -- but they can always be institutionalized if it comes to that. Take the NDAA for example.
The ones I saw were on front porches. It doesn't seem hard to put the washer in the back and run a hose off to the side.
Yes, Silicon Valley is definitely the major leagues. But I wonder about its future. The VCs seem to be having a hard time finding businesses worth funding.
John Forbes Nash, Homer Hickam, etc. - they all moved away to make their mark.
A 94.9 average IQ is not at all shocking. Having visited a few mining towns on business trips, I can tell you that good help is very hard to find, and drug use - lately methamphetamine - is rampant. It's not just that West Virginia's economy primarily depends on unskilled labor; it's that the type of unskilled labor is in the most undesirable sector of all - mining. Better hope the mining unions hold out, though, or white West Virginians will be rapidly replaced by illegal Hispanics, in the same manner they've replaced whites in meatpacking all over the country.
Geography and economic conditions were never favorable to places like West Virginia, but corporate consolidation has made it worse. Small cities used to have banks and general stores and department stores and hotels run by locals with the wits to run their own enterprises. Today those enterprises are run from afar by megacorporations, and the local managers don't have to be nearly as bright or energetic as the entrepeneurs they've replaced. Meanwhile, many of the physician posts are filled by immigrants whose visas are conditioned on their locating to an "underserved community." So the doctors and entrepeneurs moved off to the big cities and left small town America behind. A good proxy for this effect would probably be local Jewish populations. I could be wrong, but I'd wager West Virginia has a smaller Jewish population today than it had 50 years ago.
Corps needing less brains in department stores: Yes, I've thought about that as well and wonder how it will play out. I expect this trend to continue. Just electronically monitor everything and have people at headquarters get a store brought up on their screen in real time and deal with a tricky problem using video feeds and remote control of robots.
I also expect less need for specialist service providers as services like medical diagnosis become automated. The brains in medicine will move on to other areas such as management, marketing, and engineering. The barriers between the cognitive elite and masses will grow larger as the cognitive elite spend even less of their time in contact with the masses.
