Grandfather Arrested For Holding Burglar With Gun

What used to be considered admirably good citizenship is now considered a criminal act.

A New Hampshire grandfather has been arrested and is facing a possible prison sentence for firing a shot into the ground and holding a burglar at gunpoint until the cops could arrive.

Only police are allowed to enforce the law? Since when?

If he goes to trial will a jury convict?

No jury would convict, and no governor worth a damn would refuse to pardon or commute. Of course you may lose your job, your savings, and your home along the way, but that's how heroes and legends are made.

Fuck the police. I'm tired of hearing that we're not allowed to defend ourselves. I'm fed up with a government that thinks it has any fucking business dictating to a company or charity that they have to provide coverage for things they find morally offensive, like birth control or the morning after pill (and for the record, I have no moral qualms about either#. Formal sanction of bad behavior isn't enough. Society needs informal forms of sanction as well. The law can't (and shouldn't) be everywhere.

But informal sanction isn't allowed. You can't get fired from your job, kicked out of your neighborhood, or made in any other way a pariah because you're a skank, a leech, or a con. There are supposedly now retailers who tell their employees not to try to stop shoplifters because if the accusation is false the alleged shoplifter can sue. I know of a man who beat the rap on a murder conviction #he was clearly guilty, but the police botched the case) and his employer was forced to hire him back, even though no one wanted to work with him.

This country is circling the drain. Culturally, demographically, and politically we are in steep decline. The institutions have been overtaken by society's enemies. The conservatives who might be counted on to defend it are overwhelmed by armies of the stupid, who are enamored with idiocrats like Sarah Palin and Mike Huckabilly.

Last I heard judges are elected in New Hampshire. This guy would not have been sent to prison.

Too bad Americans don't have the guts the Greek have. Maybe the occupy protesters will consider throwing molotov cocktails to the stooges we call police, instead of going peacefully dumb.

Isn't it just great seeing these formerly tough-looking cops cornered by The People? Since when has a real and meaningful change been a peaceful one?

We just don't know when it is time -nor how- to say "enough is enough", do we?

Sure, but we shouldn't allow things to go this far. I mean, hoping that no jury convicts or placing hopes on governors.

Why should anybody be left hoping for acquittal or pardon for defending his rights? I also join in saying, Fuck the police and also the govenor if he feels he has to pardon.
