Israel Sees Younger Unmarried Palestinians As Dangers

In a debate on Dennis Mangan's blog about whether Muslim-Palestinian US Army Major Hasan's killing spree was motivated by Islam or sexual frustration or both a commenter named J said the Israelis cut down Palestinian attacks by restricting entrance to Palestinians over 40 and married. Necessity forces them to be pragmatic and go with what works. America is a wealthier and more powerful country and therefore can afford to ignore more aspects of reality and make larger scale mistakes - which our elites do without hesitation.

Auster's reaction to the idea that Major Hassan went amok fueled by sexual frustration only shows his profound ignorance of (Palestinian) Arabs. Here in Israel we have much experience with Arab suicide bombers and violent street mobs. One of the most effective remedies to the Intifada suicide attacks was to limit work permits in Israel to Palestinians over 40 and married. (That was improved upon by building a fence around Israel, which completely stopped that phenomenon). We cannot stop them coming to pray in the Jerusalem Al Aqsa Mosque, and every Friday prayer used to end in bloody confrontations with the police. So now, when the Arab street gets excited, Israel allows the entrance of only people over 40 and married. About 50% of the Palestinian girls are married by the age of 18, while men usually have to build their house to marry, which is around 30. Marriage is generally an exchange = you have to supply your sister in esxchange for a bride. That's why "honour killings" are so common - if the sister does not agree, she "brings shame on the family" and the brother cannot marry. Whores are killed by the "morality police". The consequence is that sexual perversion (goats?) and murderous acts of running amok are quite common in the Arab society, but who cares? They are never reported not here nor in the USA which is OK. I am sure if Major Hassan had been married he would have reacted with less violence.

Osama Bin Laden has multiple wives. But he didn't personally pilot an airplane into a skyscraper. The 9/11 hijackers were younger and single. If we'd kept out young single Muslims then the World Trade Center would still exist. A policy similar to Israel's would still allow older and safer Muslim businessmen with long business track records to come to the US to buy and sell.

If America's leaders wanted to put the safety of the American population ahead of other considerations then they'd end Muslim immigration and deport non-citizen Muslims. But America's leaders have other priorities.

You bet they are. All of them:

And you're all right about ending muslim immigration and deporting non-citizen muslims (as well as any non citizen). However, muslim "citizens" should be kicked out as well. Muslims cannot be Americans.

Francis, advocating things that have ~0% chance of occurring, regardless of whether or not they're good ideas, helps discredit the more practical ideas of allied people.

Deport non-citizen Muslims? Even people who immigrated here legally? And have been here for years?

What kind of monster are you?

Actually one of the 9/11 pilots, Ziad Jarrah, had a girlfriend - a Turkish girl living back in Germany. He is also the only 9/11 attacker I have seen who looks well-adjusted in some of his photos. From wikipedia: "Jarrah occasionally flew back to Germany to visit his Turkish-German girlfriend, and called or e-mailed her nearly every day." Then again, the fact that he was isolated from her in the U.S. probably facilitated his ability to commit suicide terror.

Just what are those priorities, one must wonder.

Michael said at November 26, 2009 2:39 AM:

BTW, from an Darwinian perspective it is not at all surprising that young unmarried Muslims are far more likely to commit terror attacks.

When you're unmarried and unlikely to ever be married thanks to your society's polygamy, you’ll have far less Genetic Fitness to lose by dying, and the relative importance of improving your Inclusive Fitness by advancing the welfare of your racial and family groups greatly increases.

Also in all traditional societies War is the province of the young, this being because old men are such poor fighters (especially in the hand to hand combat that dominated the experience of our ancestors) that they'd just get in the way on a battlefield.

Polygamy only accounts for around 5 percent of Muslim marriages. Many Muslim countries like Tunisia ban it entirely. It is not polygamy; it is their doctrine of world supremacy, which is clearly laid out in their source material for anyone who cares to read and digest it. I do not understand why people feel qualified to pronounce on Islam like experts when they don't have the faintest knowledge of what it's about. I guess if you are a bio-reductionist like Dennis Magnan you will cut any ideology to fit the cloth of your ideological obsession.

That said, Randall is entirely right. Muslim immigrants don't have a good track record anywhere they go. They are seditious to all other cultures, not just the West. They revolt against Buddhists in Thailand and against Anglican Christians in Nigeria and Orthodox Christians in the Balkans and Indian Hindus on the Sub-continent. They should not be admitted here.

PS -- what evidence does anyone have that Maj. Hasan couldn't find a wife? I've spent some time perusing Muslim matrimonial websites. For middle-class Muslim parents looking for a husband for their daughter, the top three desired characteristics are 1) light skin 2) advanced degree and 3) permanent residency or citizenship in a Western country. Hasan was all three of those things. Did he ever post an ad on a Muslim matrimonial site, or answer one? He would have had his pick of Muslim female candidates.

I'm not buying that Hasan couldn't find a wife. It's more likely that he avoided female entanglements because he dreamed of martyrdom in the service of Islam, which his beliefs told him was the highest possible status to aim for.

Michael said at November 27, 2009 11:08 PM:

Yeah, but if each Muslim with multiple wives has 3 of them on average, that means of the remaining men 10.5% of them won't be able to have any wife on account of the Polygamists taking up so many of the women.

And then of the ones that have failed to attract a wife, in the context of societies where females marry off very early there's a good chance they'd never get to marry and thus reproduce no matter how long they lived.

I tend to agree with you though that it's almost entirely something intrinsic to Islam itself that makes its followers so into killing and fighting what they consider to be the infidel.

I was mostly just trying to explain why young unmarried Muslims are a greater danger than older and/or married Muslims.

They are also using female suicide bombers nowadays. For example, the ones who are set to be "honor-killed" for "shaming" their families are given the choice to go out as a suicide bomber instead of being shot or strangled to death. It's a sick culture, and one with which I prefer to have no contact with whatsoever.

Regards the math on unmarried Muslims: My guess is the reality is even worse due to females who never marry. I've read there's delayed marriage in some Muslim countries due to lack of money to form a household. So a lot of guys in their 20s who might be able to get married in their 30s still are very frustrated and unsure marriage is really in their future. Plus, many are unemployed and as my grandmother used to say "idle hands are the devil's workshop".
