European Union To Threaten Illegal Aliens With Jail Time

If the EU tells you to leave and you dally for more than 30 days you could spend months in the slammer.

PARIS, June 18 -- The European Parliament approved new rules Wednesday designed to standardize the dramatic differences in member countries' treatment of illegal immigrants, whose presence is one of the most heated political issues in Europe today.

The measure, which would allow countries to jail illegal immigrants for as long as 18 months pending deportation, was decried by human rights organizations as promoting excessive detention. Supporters defended it as providing greater protections for the foreigners in countries that now permit indefinite detentions and grant detainees few legal rights.

This ups the costs of being an illegal alien. But how much will EU member states use this new legal power? Enforcement of tough laws would send most illegal aliens fleeing in short order. What is needed is the political will to enforce the laws.

This is the trend in the EU at the moment. With the Germans at the centre, Europe has a oddly no-nonsense approach to immigration that can sometimes be overlooked by outsiders obsessed with car fires in the French banlieues and tussles over cartoons. As Europe becomes more federalized I believe it will become more anti-immigrant. Right now European countries are pissed at countries like Spain that legalize millions of Africans overnight, and want to bring everybody closer on policy. Note - the French want huge decreases, the Germans NEVER ACCEPTED the pro-immigration premise in the first place (something that gets ignored in America), the Italians want MASSIVE decreases etc. In fact, from what I've read, only the liberal morons in Britain have opted out of these policies, presumably because it would put a spanner in their current policy of importing as many Subcontinental Indians as possible.

You know I remember once upon a time Randall, egged on by his idol Steve Sailer started attacking blacks in France and blaming them for the riots and car burnings (maybe Randell blamed both Arabs and blacks) but Steve blamed blacks.

I made an observation that violent rioting only showed they were acculturated as this is not common in the Middle East or Africa (not over political issues as the government will shoot everyone). :-)

I wonder if Randall will do an article on this though:

"He ticked off some obvious numbers: one black member representing continental France in the National Assembly among 555 members; no continental French senators out of some 300; only a handful of mayors out of some 36,000, and none from the poor Paris suburbs.
To this may be added Cran's findings that the percentage of blacks in France who hold university degrees is 55, compared with 37 percent for the general population. But the number of blacks who get stuck in the working class is 45 percent, compared with 34 percent for the national average."

This would make blacks about as educated as Asians in America.

Germany never accepted the pro-immigration premise? then howcome they have 2+ million Turks? during the 90's Germany also gave asylum to huge numbers of people, more than Britain although they are a bigger country ofcourse.
Britain historically, until Tony Blair were not as bad as other EU countries on immigration, now the EU laws actually stop countries being as tough on immigration as they want to be, or at least provides the excuse to domestic liberals.
The French are known for pushing tough EU law and then ignoring it.

Hysterical. Having a degree makes you smart! Who knew?

The turks were ALWAYS considered temporary, indeed they still are today. It doesn't make sense, logically, but that's how they're viewed by most Germans. Germany has a partially race-based immigration system, like Ireland: the German diaspora can return at any time. Turks are not considered Germans, and this is expressed in an astonishingly formal manner by the population.

Turkey will play Germany in the semi-finals of Euro 08 (soccer). Despite what liberal Americans think about soccer's internationalism there's nothing like a soccer international to raise tensions between the people of two nations! If the Turks win they'll infuriate Germans with their celebrations in German cities. If Germany win (likely) it'll reinforce the inferiority complex and hostility Turks have towards Germans. We might even see mini-riots and street fights throughout Germany.
