All measures of childbearing by unmarried women increased to record levels for the Nation in 2005 according to preliminary data (2,4). The total number of births rose 4 percent to 1,525,345, compared with 1,470,189 in 2004. During 2002-2005, the number increased 12 percent overall.
- The birth rate increased 3 percent in 2005 to 47.6 per 1,000 unmarried women aged 15-44 years, up from 46.1 in 2004.
- The proportion of births to unmarried women increased in 2005 to 36.8 percent, compared with 35.8 percent in 2004. The proportions increased for all population subgroups by race and Hispanic origin (Table 1 and Figure 3).
- In 2005, well over four in five births to teenagers were nonmarital (Table 3). Over one-half of births to women aged 20-24 years and nearly 3 in 10 births to women aged 25-29 years were to unmarried women.
As whites dwindle as a percentage of the US population and the Hispanic portion of the US population grows this trend will continue. Out of all groups of single women in the United States Hispanic single women have the highest fertility rate.
What we are seeing is "family values" Jorge W. Bush style. For Democrats who are truly patriotic this trend is bad news and should be reason for Democrats to oppose Hispanic immigration. But for Democrats who are partisans who just want more voters for their party this trend is great news. Poorer lower class Hispanic single moms will reliably vote for the donkey over the elephant.

If you're having a baby to get something like a green card, being married first will to a great many of them seem unimportant.
With 'family values' like this slopping over the Rio Grande, and being exulted over by the president, it should be all the more clear why it has to be America first.
Family first can mean enemy families first, and America and civilization, last.
Mexican-family-firsters in the administration should beware the righteous anger of the decent families of America.
It's interesting that Asian women have much lower percentage of unmarried births compared to non-Hispanic whites.

Blacks have the lowest average IQ and the highest percentage of births to unwed mothers, Asian women have the highest average IQ's and the lowerst percentage of births to unwed.
It is obvious that having a child at a young age without a father is a very stupid decision. Is it a surprise to anyone that the stupid are more likely to make stupid decisions.

The problem I see for whites is cultural now. Genetics and nutirition are the limit for one's IQ, not the starting point. It's like fuel efficiency in a car. Car "A" may be capable of getting 35 mpg, but that's only under optimal conditions. East Asians in America are operating at peak efficiency. They're driving on flat ground at 60 mph on Interstate 80 in Iowa. Whites are driving Car "B" capable of 33 mpg, but they're now driving through the surface streets of New York City in bad traffic (imitating black culture).

This may be due simply to identifying with a culture more dominated by low-IQ people, or because of directly genetically influenced differences in personality (with blacks being more brash than others even after controlling for IQ).

Also, the overall IQ of NE Asians, based on various sources, seems to range 3-7 points higher than the white average. I would also add that E Asians tend to outperform other groups academically, even after controlling for IQ (for example, East Asian college admissions are significantly higher than would be expected based on IQ alone).

Blacks already have 68% or 70% (forget what is the current number) of babies born out of wedlock. They do not have a lot of room to get worse on this score. Whereas the Asians and whites do still have a long way to fall. Also, more affluent white and Asian women can more easily afford single motherhood.
