Dennis Hastert Goes Wobbly On Immigration
Denny Hastert can't be trusted to do the right thing.
WASHINGTON, March 29 — Speaker J. Dennis Hastert said Wednesday that he and other House Republicans recognized the need for a guest worker program, opening the door to a possible compromise with the Senate on fiercely debated immigration legislation.
"We're going to look at all alternatives," Mr. Hastert, an Illinois Republican, said at a news conference. "We're not going to discount anything right now. Our first priority is to protect the border. And we also know there is a need in some sections of the economy for a guest worker program."
Hastert signs on the moronic fallacy that there is an absolute need for ever cheaper labor in larger quantities.
"We're looking at all alternatives and we're not going to discount anything right now," Hastert said. "Our first priority is to protect the border. And we also know that there is a need in some sectors of the economy for a guest worker program.
The people who keep saying that the US economy faces labor shortages remind me of Dr. Joseph M. Goebbels.
If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”
What are you going to believe the repeated lies of our corrupt elites or your lying eyes?
Hastert's own voting record has been restrictionst for the most part and he gets an A- grade for being restrictionst.
Republican House Majority Leader John Boehner is ready to consider an amnesty.
House Majority Leader John A. Boehner refused yesterday to rule out compromising with the Senate to expand the House border security bill to include a guest-worker program or provisions that opponents call "amnesty."
"Let's wait and see what the Senate can produce," he told reporters yesterday when asked whether House Republicans would reject the Senate Judiciary Committee's proposal to allow the estimated 12 million illegal aliens now in the U.S. to seek citizenship after paying a fine.
Boehner says he'd prefer to avoid an amnesty if he can but I'm not convinced.
Mr. Boehner and other House leaders said yesterday they still prefer their border-security-only bill.
"Border security is a huge, huge issue everywhere," said Majority Whip Roy Blunt, Missouri Republican. "House members are on the right side of the issue."
Boehner, R-Ohio, gets a voting history score of B- from an immigration restrictionist group. Ohio Republican Senator Mike DeWine, who recently voted for a huge amnesty bill in the Senate Judiciary Committee scores a career voting grade of D- and a recent grade of F- from the same immigration restrictionist group.
A couple of years ago I wrote a post which as far as I can tell still has the most comprehensive list of reasons why a foreigner worker permit program would increase rather than decrease illegal and legal immigration. See my post Thinking About Bush's Less Than Half-Baked Worker Permit Proposal. If someone can find a more comprehensive list of reasons why a worker permit program would not control or slow the illegal immigrant influx please give me a link to it.
The elite sentiment appears to echo that of the hostiles who are marching against America; they would rather have no legislation at all. The elements looking for a compromise with something for everyone are a trivial percentage.
Here's an "element" with a seemingly trivial percentage that magically steers the agenda:
The Jewish Stake in America's Changing Demography
By Stephen Steinlight
Some quotes from the article:
"The white "Christian" supremacists who have historically opposed either all immigration or all non-European immigration (Europeans being defined as Nordic or Anglo-Saxon), a position re-asserted by Peter Brimelow, must not be permitted to play a prominent role in the debate over the way America responds to unprecedented demographic change."
"Leaving Inviolate the Historical Holy of Holies" ...meaning the 1965 Hart-Cellar Immigration Act.
HOLY OF HOLIES. The Jewish Lobby has controlled immigration policy (promoted open borders) in the USA since 1965 because they feel it's an absolute imperative that they do so for their community's well-being.
There are only three lobbies in Washington DC that completely intimidate the politicians. #1 is The Lobby aka the Jewish Lobby. #2 is the NRA. #3 is AARP.
Any issue precious to these lobbies is politically untouchable. "A third rail" i.e. if you touch it you die. Immigration control is precious to the most powerful lobby in the USA and that is why there is a stark disconnect between congress and the people.
Lou Dobbs is a hero but even he will not touch this topic of conversation. But Jewish power needs to be discussed and criticized openly just as any other group's power should be discussed in a free society. To do otherwise is cowardice and abandonment of basic American principles. The mainstream US media is sick and wholly compromised. The proof is that you must read Israeli news sources to get honest reporting of Jewish lobbying activities in the USA. Actually to get much of any reporting at all.
Well, it seems that the mere sight of a million Mexicans marching down main street LA, for their own selfish racial interest, ( a strike at Burger King anyone?), is enough to scare the living be-Jesus out of most American politicians.
Reminds me of an old story well known to the wild, long-haired and bearded, buck-skin weaing "backwoodsmen" of Kentucky and Tennessee, who were fascinated by the ways of wild animals, and also had a deep respect for the critters.
Apparently, if a captive rabbit is offered up before a weasel or stoat, the rabbit is literally so paralysed with fear that its central nervous system is overloaded and it cannot move a muscle, ie it is literally "petrified " (made as immobile as rock).
The rabbit thus makes an easy meal for the weasel.
What if incompatible immigration is not a Jewish project any more than it is an Irish, or a leftist one? It shouldn't be obscured that a sea-change, or even several of them, has developed on what can be published critical of immigration of incompatibles. In the 1930's, it has been said that a book by Bourne could not be published, which minimized the contribution of immigrants to the upbuilding of America, in its distinctive qualities. It was said to be contrary to the Jewish interest.
Whether this is literally true or not, I don't know. But...
from the 30's to the 80's, not one book that I know of, appeared in this country which was critical of immigration to any notable extent.
Since then, the immigration restrictionist literature has doubled and redoubled. By now, it includes titles by scholars of distinction, such as Samuel Huntington.
If one is especially concerned to find a Jewish angle on this development, one consideration might be whether restriction on the immigration of incompatibles is still considered 'contrary to the Jewish interest'.
Accordingly, we see a popular response which is much like that of the 1920's; which is the last time we had a sizeable restrictionist literature.
9-11 is a major instigator; but the 1920's also had major bombings by immigrants.
As to 3rd rail issues; Bush touched Social Security in his proposals. Immigration has lost its sacrosanct status politically.
It's much more than the Jewish Lobby. Yes they share the blame for their suicidal policies (some even aren't aware how suicidal these policies will be for Jews in the next 20 years), but even if the Jewish Lobby didn't exist or have the same power it has today, we would still find ourselves in the same mess. If anything, the multicultural leftists and multicultural corporatists (the WSJ type) are ultimately responsible for mass immigration. Henry Ford was no friend of the Jewish Lobby (that's putting it lightly) and he thought it was a good idea to import Lebanese Muslims into Dearborn, Michigan to work in his factories. Now, who would want to live in Dearborn today? The "forbidden topic" transcends Jewish interests (which do exist) and the "immigrant experience" has become part of American culture eventhough the majority of Americans are not immigrants and haven't been for many, many generations. We need to make mainstream America realize that immigration is not a right, but a priviledge and that stopping immigration isn't "unthinkable" or worse, "immoral". Once the public is reprogrammed from their PC indoctrination, then the politicians will have no choice but to listen or face the consequences.
