Geert Wilders On His Life In Police Protection From Muslims

Geert Wilders, a Dutch parliamentarian and critic of Islam who is targetted for death by Muslim extremists, lives under constant police protection and sleeps in safe houses.

Wilders now travels everywhere with six bodyguards. He cannot sleep in his own home, but is moved around between various undisclosed safe houses. He sees his wife twice a week, at a safe house. Visitors to his parliament office must be cleared in advance and are thoroughly searched; even ballpoint pens are carefully examined.

"It's like being caught in a bad B movie," Wilders said. The guards are always there: "If I go to the toilet, they are standing behind the door." The irony, he said, is that the people who are threatening him walk the streets freely, while "the people who are threatened are more or less in prison."

Wilders has concluded that Islam can't be reconciled with liberal democracy.

Wilders's transgression, according to the extremists demanding his death, is his insulting of Muslims in the Netherlands, with frequent denunciations of Islam. "Islam and democracy are fully incompatible," he said in the interview. "They will never be compatible -- not today, and not in a million years."

Holland is known for a sort of extremism in tolerance of alternative lifestyles. But the Dutch never calculated the possibility that some cultures and religions have a intolerance built into them that is incompatible with Dutch society. Even if that intolerance manifests in only a small fraction of a Muslim immigrant group the extreme lengths that the most hostile Muslims are willing to go to are enough to get people killed and other people living in fear and under police protection.

Wilders wants to field a list of candidates in next Dutch election as part of his Wilders Group party. But anyone who joins his list will immediately have to go under continuous 24 hour per day police protection. The Muslim militants are therefore already a very practical obstacle to the creation of Dutch political parties which oppose Muslim immigration and Muslim radicalism.

Western nations should put a stop to Muslim immigration. There is no compelling reason why we should inflict upon ourselves the problem that the Dutch are having. What is going on in the Netherlands reminds me of the Monty Python character who accidentally enters the room for "Getting Hit On The Head Lessons". Well, does anyone aside from some masochists want to have "Getting Hit On The Head Lessons"? That is what the Dutch, through their foolish immigration policy, have effectively inflicted upon themselves. The US is doing the same with massive Hispanic immigration but with a different set of resulting problems.

The more extreme the muslim extremist act the harder the government will fight back. As with crime, as with Drugs.
We are already seeing toughen immigration laws, deportation and imprisonment.

The unpalatable truth is that the political elites of ALL Western nations could not give a damn about the survival of people of indigenous European stock, and if pressed to express racial bias in support of any ethnic group, will invariably fight the cause of the non-White party.

In terms of moslem immigration; enemies must not be allowed to enter and receive state support or protection. It fits the definition of treason, if official malfeasance allows the influx of such and such enemies.

This is not exactly true because of the following immutable fact: Politicians are by their
intrinsic nature, cameleons with a 4 year shelf life (7 years in some countries where the president
is elected for that time interval. ) Politicians have antennas that see the coming change on the horizon,
and they adapt accordingly. When the European politicians see in the future that the overwhelming
majority nations are very unhappy with the growing Muslim minority that is threatening to become
the majority, then they would legislate again, and they would take extreme discriminatory measures totally
forgotten since the first half of the last century. For instance, I have read that
the Norvegian traitor Vidkun Quisling was at some point interested in Communism when he was in Russia during
the Russian revolution, but then he met the Nazi philosopher Alfred Rosenberg, who convinced him that
instead of Bolshevism , a much more profitable career was suitable for him, and he introduced Quisling
to Adolf Hitler, ultimately making him a Norvegian nazi.

Invisible Scientist,

So far the politicians have been very reluctant to stop letting in people who are incompatible in cultural and religious terms or to keep out people who do poorly educationally and economically. By the time the situation gets extremely bad the new groups will be such large voting blocs that the politicians will still be unwilling to do much about it.

The threats on the lives of Dutch politicians may benefit the Dutch people in the long run since politicians are inconvenienced now by the threat that is going to become larger in the future. Nothing like the threat of assassination to concentrate the mind.

At least we can remedy the situation by increasing the quality of the incoming immigrants by
modifying the annual green card lottery that is designed to give 50,000 immigration visas to random
foreigners. Inside the lottery, the intelligence and educational ability requirements can be build in
in such a way that the winners of the lottery should be given more points for winning, if they have
more educational, intellectual abilities. I am sure this can be added to the lottery system. Similar
rules can be added to the existing immigration system. Currently, there are some quotas from various
countries, which force the family members of US citizens to wait many long years before immigration,
and so outside illegal immigration, there are some good controls on immigration. The situation can be
improved in the US considerably by increasing the quality requirements for the applicants.

As an outsider looking in on the US (from Canada) I'm getting the impression that there's about to be some positive movement on the immigration mess in your country. Sensenbrenner's very public stand against the intelligence bill on the issue of illegals, Hillary making anti-illegal alien noises, Lou Dobbs' nightly sermons - even David Dreier came across as sensible on immigration the other night on Dobbs' programme), and now Rush Limbaugh has apparently weighed in (according to John Fund in WSJ). All of this indicates a gathering of momentum in favour of reforms. What do you all think?

Randall Parker said at February 1, 2005 1:36 PM:

Matra,

The anti-immgration forces are certainly growing more organized and larger. Public opinion is moving in that direction. Like all Congress reps in California Dreier has a district that is tilted toward his party (in this case Republican). Yet even though Dreier won reelection by a large margin his margin was the smallest of all Congressional reps reelected in California in 2004. So the "John And Ken" radio talk show campaign against Dreier due to immigration may have him feeling rattled.

But from where we are right now I can not imagine the constuction of a barrier on the Mexican border while Bush is in office. Nor can I imagine him enforcing all the immigration laws vigorously. Though if Muslims in the US illegally do a big terrorist attack and kill a large number of people then public attitudes may become so hardened and so angry that he'll be forced to cave in.

Officials have responsibilities; there must be no pretending that they don't. If a depraved playboy inherits a presidency, there is still the reponsibility to defend against foreign enemies.

Why does everyone assume the federal government has to build the barrier? Why can't the people of X state vote on a wall referendum and build their own damn wall? It's pretty clear the people at the very top are not on their side. Why wait around?

John S Bolton said at February 3, 2005 9:10 PM:

No society needs to be open to its enemies; therefore, officials do not have the right to proceed as if such openness were a necessity.

I haven't removed any posts. Here is a post of mine about Dutch white flight to Canada, Australia, etc.
