Bridgeton New Jersey Has Many Hit And Run Accidents Due To Illegals

Business interests that lobby to block the deportation of illegal immigration bear some of the responsibility for the problems in Bridgeton New Jersey.

Since Jan. 1, the city has seen 235 traffic accidents, 139 of them hit-and-runs. That rate is more than three times that of Newark, the state's largest city. Nearly all the hit-and-runs, police say, appear to involve Mexican migrants who flee largely out of fear they will be arrested or deported.

...

With an official population of 22,771 and an undocumented population estimated at 6,000 to 10,000, this sleepy city struggles with many of the social problems associated with illegal immigration, such as overcrowded housing and hospitals trying to care for uninsured patients.

George W. Bush doesn't care because he wants to appeal to Hispanics in order to get reelected.

Short of an East German style border with shoot to kill orders, the illegals will keep coming.

The next question is do you want more hit and runs or would you prefer hit and stops?

Make your policy accordingly.

Either face reality or get smacked by it.

A good barrier would reduce the flow by one or two orders of magnitude depending on how well the barrier was built. With enough of a sensor system built into it the barrier would provide quick notification to the border patrol of where to go to round up illegals trying to make the crossing.

Look at the Gaza barrier. The Israelis do not get attacked by suicide bombers crossing thru the Gaza barrier because the barrier is too hard to cross.

The US is paying for all those greedy American globalization, and imperialism. Immigration is the consequence of the US' hunger of global dominance... so Americans tolerate your punishment

Randall Parker said at November 1, 2005 7:02 PM:

Carlos,

The immigration is a consequence of higher per capita income in the US as compared to most other countries.

The higher per capita income is due to higher average intelligence of the US population, lower corruption, more free market, and other characteristics of the US population. The US affluence is not the result of "hunger of global dominance".

We are suffering for our virtues, not for our sins. We need to start aggressively enforcing immigration law and stop the immigration deluge. Enough is enough.
